I finally finished this three family Family Session! :) I have been taking photos of this family for several years now and it is amazing how quickly the girls are growing up and how much they change from year to year. Each cousin is so striking in different ways, I love capturing the whole family. Thanks guys! I will get your CDs to you sometime this week!

Isn’t ‘mama joy’ beautiful? There really isn’t anything more gorgeous than a mother in love with her baby. It lights their faces up. I love this picture SO much.
I am in love with the light that I was blessed with during my time with this sweet little family. My little subject was one of the most patient little ones that I’ve worked with so far in my time photographing babies. She has such a sunny disposition and I think you can see that in the glow-y feeling of these photos. What a sweet heart.
Thank you so much for allowing me to work with your beautiful little one! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!! I had so much fun getting to know you ladies a little bit! :)

We had this photo shoot planned for a WHILE. We pinned ideas, we conspired by email, we had some fun plans up our sleeves…and when these adorable sisters found out that their parents and I were making them wait ONE extra day to find out if they were getting a new brother or sister, they were not too happy. But I THINK they decided the wait was worth it.
They had no idea what color balloons would pop out when they opened this box…neither did I!
A baby brother!!
The excited family! I am so happy for them…the girls are going to be SUCH good big sisters to their new little brother.

Several weeks ago, I took some Senior Photos that had an aspect of them that was new to me.
This photo session featured a horse named Little Dreamer.
I’ve worked with babies and dogs before but never a horse. And I have to say that horses are a bit tricky.
Not because they have bad attitudes (although LD got a little irritated when all his buddies got their food and he was still out in the pasture having his picture taken). It was tricky because they are HUGE.
It was good practice for me!
So now I can add “horse” to my photo resume. That’s not something you get to do every day.
Thanks for not being TOO much of a diva, LD. Your rider was pretty well behaved too. ;)

A few weeks ago, I met these adorable sisters and their mom in the park. Our shoot was top secret because the photos were to be a birthday gift for their dad…even though, RANDOMLY – (although I don’t even know why I was surprised, our city has such a small town, running into someone you know everywhere you go feel to it), Zac almost spilled the beans. With some quick thinking, and some quick mouth shutting by Zac, I think they were able to cover and I’m PRETTY sure the surprise wasn’t spoiled :) Sorry about that, Susie! From now on I will fill Zac in COMPLETELY on all of my sessions so that he doesn’t randomly mention top secret sessions in chance run ins at fast food restaurants.
I think this outtake might be my favorite from the whole shoot because it shows how much fun these girls were having with each other. They were hilarious and so fun. It made me think of my own three girlies and how they will interact as they grow…sisters are awesome. And occasionally infuriating (mine were anyway. Ha!) …but mostly awesome.
I loved working with you girls – I’m so happy the surprise was kept and I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating this week!

OK! Well, this week has been a BUSY one! I have been working on clearing out my editing queue so that I get these pretty photos out to this sweet girl’s family and so that I will be ready to work on next week’s line up of sessions. I can’t really describe how much I enjoy taking pictures of these newborns. Each baby has SUCH a special story and a family that is madly in love and I treasure sitting in the quiet, little space I set up in the warmth of the sun, listening to the stories and getting to see the love that is showered on these precious ones. It really is a gift.

I have more projects on my “To Do” list…hopefully for next week. I have been focusing on my photo sessions a lot lately and I love it so much but I also have several sewing and house projects simmering in my head that will drive me CRAZY if I don’t get started on them. I’m excited to get going…Spring seems to have FINALLY hit here, even though it’s still chilly. The sun in shining more and nature seems like it’s waking up as well. It’s motivating me to get going!
I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend!

I’ve been busily editing several photo sessions over the last two weeks. I still have more to do but I wanted to post this preview today! Can you believe the lashes on this little guy? He’s got the brightest eyes!
I was lucky enough to shoot his newborn photos and it’s been SO fun watching him grow – it just reinforces how FAST babies change from teeny little ones to toddlers with so much personality. I LOVE being able to capture them for their sweet parents as they fly through these stages. What a privilege.
If you feel clever today – I am having a caption contest on our Facebook page for that top photo…doesn’t it just beg for a fun caption? Too bad my brain is far too sleep deprived and toddler questioned out to think of a funny one. Pop over to our page and see what captions have been submitted so far and join the fun!

Just finished preview #2 from the week before Valentine’s Day. We had SO much fun with this guy…I mean, there’s too much coolness going on here – the red bowtie, the extra large glasses, the killer personality. He’s one of our favorites.
Enjoy your preview Mr. Awesome!
If you are wondering where my TOTALLY rockin’ heart marquee came from – I made it using this FANTASTIC DIY tutorial that Kim from Oh, Sweet Joy! wrote. It’s seriously SO easy and can you imagine the possibilities here? Initials, words, shapes – ANYTHING! The only change I made to my heart was that I used foam core poster board instead of the thinner stuff because I need my heart to be able to stand up on it’s own for shoots.Kim used simple poster board and hung hers on her wall and it’s FABULOUS. Go check it out!

I absolutely LOVE when I get to photograph newborns – I love it even more when I get to see those newborns as they grow. This was Baby Girl this summer as a newborn, she was an itty bitty ALMOST 5 pounder and I was in heaven photographing her. She even gave me smiles… because we’re BFFs, of course. Her Aunties called me The Baby Whisperer, but I think it was just this beautiful girl being her sweet self!
And this is Baby Girl now at an even more beautiful and smiley 6 months. It is such a blessing to see babies flourish like this. Look at that smile!
She is SO well loved. And she kind of has a thing for her Daddy.
Gorgeous girl!! Thank you guys for bringing her to see me and letting me capture your sweet family! It was such a blessing to see how she’s grown! Your CD is in the mail! :) Emily

I’m stuck at home today with some sick kiddos. Errands have been postponed, household chores can not be completed because of two girlies that are insisting on extra snuggles and who become basket cases if they don’t get them IMMEDIATELY. SO I’m putting off my list of things to do to give them attention. HOWEVER, I have been clicking through Pinterest a bit on my handy dandy Kindle searching for inspiration for a Valentine’s Day shoot. I go back and forth on photo shoots with my kids. I love to be able to preserve who they are right now at this specific moment. The amateur photographer in me likes to dream of cool backdrops and lighting and outfits and things I could do – the mom in me is a realist. I know that the more “stuff” I have in the background, the more difficult it will be to get a photo of anything other than the back of the baby’s head – or an awesome photo of the 3 year old screaming while the 6 year old laughs at the 1 year old yanking the whole stinking backdrop down on top of them all. SO I’m brainstorming on minimalistic things I can add to my February photo shoot without piquing the baby’s interest (which is IMPOSSIBLE to redirect at this phase. If she wants it, she’s GOING to FIGHT to get it, Come Hell or high water).
“L-O-V-E” — see it?

Ok. While I have these disaster situations running through my head and am working on how to avoid them, I thought I’d share a peak at what I did last year. The baby was brand new so I was still not sleeping (wait…I’m STILL not sleeping – how does that work?) and I kept it VERY simple and quick. But I really like that I was able to capture their little fingers and toes at that age. Especially because now my older girl’s fingers and toes are starting to look more and more like big kid fingers and toes :)

Also – we wanted to let you know that Zac is starting to add some awesome and free (Did you see that?! FREE!) design resources to the shop…he just added a free download of three logos. They are vector based which means they are editable. You can edit the initials and text to fit your purposes. If you go to our SHOP at CoupleJones.com/shop and click on the “Free” button you will be given the option to download and save a zip file that includes the 3 logos in an Illustrator file as well as a Pdf. Pretty cool, right? We plan on adding more and more design resources like that as our schedules allow so keep on the lookout for them and pass the word around!
Hey – have you joined our Facebook page yet? We’d love to have you!
Thanks for reading! Hope you’re week is starting off well! em

I took newborn photos for this adorable little guy, it was so fun to see how much he’s grown and changed in just a few short months. He was a tough cookie too! It was chilly! Thanks again, for letting me capture your family again – it was so special to see how well loved your sweet boy is.

These are some gorgeous brothers…that’s not hard to see.
OK, so they weren’t all that excited about hanging out with me but I totally get that. They had no idea who the crazy lady with the camera was…even though I DID help out with their mom’s church youth group when she was in HIGH SCHOOL.
Yeah, I’m not feeling old right now….not one little bit. Hah.
I loved taking these pictures. These boys are so photogenic and adorable. We tried so hard to get Big Brother to sit next to his new baby brother for some photos for their grandmother… man, did I try. I broke out the crackers, the cookies, all the non-pink/sparkly/frilly toys I could find in my house – you name it. Thankfully we did get some brother kisses in there and some great shots of his gorgeous eyes….these guys are knockouts! Thanks for tolerating me Big Brother! :)

I met B and her mom at our favorite local park a few months ago to take some one year old pictures. B and I go WAY back and so she was more than happy to smile and be silly for me…while her mom chased my kids around the park :) I love when my friends babysit my crazy kids so I can take pictures of their perfectly calm, sweet toddlers ;) It’s a TOTALLY fair trade…ha! Thanks Lauri! LOVED hanging out with B for these.
