I’m stuck at home today with some sick kiddos. Errands have been postponed, household chores can not be completed because of two girlies that are insisting on extra snuggles and who become basket cases if they don’t get them IMMEDIATELY.  SO I’m putting off my list of things to do to give them attention. HOWEVER, I have been clicking through Pinterest a bit on my handy dandy Kindle searching for inspiration for a Valentine’s Day shoot. I go back and forth on photo shoots with my kids. I love to be able to preserve who they are right now at this specific moment. The amateur photographer in me likes to dream of cool backdrops and lighting and outfits and things I could do – the mom in me is a realist. I know that the more “stuff” I have in the background, the more difficult it will be to get a photo of anything other than the back of the baby’s head – or an awesome photo of the 3 year old screaming while the 6 year old laughs at the 1 year old yanking the whole stinking backdrop down on top of them all. SO I’m brainstorming on minimalistic things I can add to my February photo shoot without piquing the baby’s interest (which is IMPOSSIBLE to redirect at this phase. If she wants it, she’s GOING to FIGHT to get it, Come Hell or high water).

Ok. While I have these disaster situations running through my head and am working on how to avoid them, I thought I’d share a peak at what I did last year. The baby was brand new so I was still not sleeping (wait…I’m STILL not sleeping – how does that work?) and I kept it VERY simple and quick. But I really like that I was able to capture their little fingers and toes at that age. Especially because now my older girl’s fingers and toes are starting to look more and more like big kid fingers and toes :)

Also – we wanted to let you know that Zac is starting to add some awesome and free (Did you see that?! FREE!) design resources to the shop…he just added a free download of three logos. They are vector based which means they are editable. You can edit the initials and text to fit your purposes. If you go to our SHOP at CoupleJones.com/shop and click on the “Free” button you will be given the option to download and save a zip file that includes the 3 logos in an Illustrator file as well as a Pdf. Pretty cool, right? We plan on adding more and more design resources like that as our schedules allow so keep on the lookout for them and pass the word around!
